Customer Review: Great for kids - COBY MP-C341
We had a standard boom box (CD and tape), but it stopped working and we needed a replacement. I initially looked for a boom box that would play MP3 CD-R disks. Besides being very difficult to find and rather expensive for what they did, my wife hated the size and color options. I then decided to find an MP3 player that had speakers (I didn’t want to have separate speakers), sleep (so it turned off for the kids) and was easy enough for the wife to set when exiting the room.

I purchased our first COBY MP-C341 on clearance from a local music store. The COBY fit our needs very well. The four integrated speakers sound fine for the volume we need at bed time. It accepts standard SD cards full of music. Comes with an A/C adapter. 1GB cards give us enough room to provide a very good selection of music. The orange carrying strap is removable and the little clock display works nicely in the room.

Some other nice features of this unit are that it can connect up to the computer through a USB cable, record through a microphone or line-in jack AND encode to MP3 and receives FM radio.

After using the COBY in my son’s room, my daughter’s CD player gave out (it was mechanical and played every night.) I ordered one from Amazon and was happily filling up another SD card with Disney and children’s tunes.

About a week later, trouble hit. The player seemed to freeze whenever the play button was pressed. I checked the manual and found nothing describing the condition or possible remedies. Calling COBY, I spoke with a representative fixated on a non-existent reset button. After looking all over the unit and declaring it reset button free, she asked a colleague and had me hook up to a computer and format the internal flash memory. Worked like a charm. Everything is back up and running and since I never stored anything on the internal memory, no loss of music.

Down side? Well, it does take a little to get used to all of the button clicks to start the music then set the sleep. Once you have it down, things work very smoothly.

The biggest up side? No more hunting for my daughter’s requested music in a pile of CD’s shoved in her nightstand!

Customer Review: The buttons don’t know what you are trying to tell them.
Budget mp3 player that doesn’t work as well as most other brands. There is a delay when pressing the buttons of up to 3 seconds before screen changes or other actions. Sometimes when pressing a button for one action (such as menu) it will bring up another action (such as volume). Due to the short battery life it is not worth the time it takes to push play (less than 5 songs per full charge). I made the mistake of researching this unit after buying it, apparently these issues are inherent with the Coby brand mp3 players.
However, it does play 2GB worth of songs if you are leaving it plugged into the computer (what’s the point of that?) or a USB compatible stereo. The color display does have good picture quality. I would recommend going with another brand.

We purchased the CX-266 in order to play select mood-music in our law office. The convenience of being able to transfer music to the SD chip - we use a 2gb - and play through the Coby good++ speakers in the hall, enhances the atmosphere of the office. For the cost, it is far the best value I have found. I will buy another soon for my residence.

Customer Review: So many positive comments so I bought one - again!
My older version (1GB) of this Coby player went out on me suddenly while trying to download a lot of music. I was disgusted. It was only 10 months old - and I hadn’t been downloading alot previously - though I had handled the little tyke roughly and used it on a regular basis (radio).

I searched online reviews of other players and came back to Coby for this newer model. Maybe holds 1-2 less songs - but still the best deal for it’s price/sound/utility. If you get one, DO HANDLE WITH CARE. Also, I discovered that Energizer’s long-lasting LITHIUM AAA batteries are oversized for the Coby battery holder. You have to squeeze them in. Probably not a good idea - but for the long life, what are you gonna do??
Multiple memory cards are great - just load and switch them out. Have more music for your buck. And this is so much CUTER than IPOD! ;>

I have had my Coby MP3 player for about a month now and it worked it great from the start. Read the user manual from cover to cover and couldn’t believe how easy it was to use. This player also comes with a USB cable (even though you can insert the player directly into a USB port for direct transfer), a AAA battery, and ear bud headphones. You can also store all kinds of files (Word, Excel, JPEG, etc). A great value! I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase another Coby product in the future.

I bought this MP3 for running, and because it was so cute. I brought it home, charged it up, and put my music on. Took it to the track and it worked, but the battery died after about 30 minutes. Brought it home, re-charged it, and it would never work again. I exchanged it for another one, and the same thing happened. It worked one time. I finally just took it back and got my money back…

Customer Review: The Good and The Bad
I brought one of these for my bf and myself. My bf mp3 was stolen, so i ordered another seeing that mine was working so well. I had absolutely no problem with mine up to this day, i love it.
The headphones are great, the sound equality is great, the screen is so great but what more do you expect. The mic recording feature is excellent.
the battery life is pretty good also. I never had to reset and it never froze up on me. Putting songs on it is so easy this is a great product.

So why am i giving it 3 stars, because the other one i ordered i had to send it back it last 2 weeks. First thing i notice with it, was that the picture stuck on the outside was different and it had no plastic to protect the screen which mine had. after about a two days the volume key became real hard the press that was ok till i noticed the entire panel was shaking that panel with left, right, plus, minus. That was still ok with my bf cause it stilled worked. Then one day it just died, real disappointing.

i don’t understand how mine is still running beautifully and that one was such poor quality. Coby you get a thumps down for being so inconsistent.
