Customer Review: Love/Hate…Mostly Hate
When I first bought this little player, it had a lot going for it. I didn’t have to worry about installing software or trying to install something on an outdated operating system (I’m still running on Windows ME, because I hate myself). Not only did it come with a headphone adapter (to go from a 2.5 to 3.5 size set of headphones) and was suspiciously cheap (a 1GB player for $25.00), all I had to do was plug it in, let it charge, and drag and drop music files, as this was pretty much a glorified flash drive. Honestly, I just needed something basic, so I wasn’t worried about display screens, FM tuners, recording features, or the ability to move forward or backward through individual tracks, all of which are nice to have, but not strictly necessary. I just wanted something to play music on the go. It was perfect for me. It was great.

Until I realised how badly it was designed.

Within ten minutes of opening it, I lost the headphone adapter, and apparently, after going to four different stores, not only did no one sell headphone adapters, not a single salesperson knew what I was talking about. That was a big surprise, and when I realised I had lost the adapter, I sincerely did not think it would be such an issue. Annoyed, I told myself I’d just get around to ordering one online. Until then, I’d just suck it up and use the annoying earbuds that came with the player.

And then, within the first two days of use, the buttons got jammed against each other, rendering me unable to use the forward button. After the headphone adapter debacle, the last thing I wanted to deal with was going back to the store and dealing with incompetent salespeople, so I just plied it off and used my thumbnail to press directly on the little metal nub on the circuitboard. And then the rewind button jammed. I just plucked that one off too. Eventually, I just ripped all three buttons off, leaving my player naked. Thankfully, it continued to work just fine. For about a month. When it just…stopped doing anything. It froze when I tried to fast forward to the next track and shut itself off. At first, I thought it was a power issue, but I was able to turn it right back on again. The exact same thing happened. I turned it on again, and it froze in the middle of the track, the power button on, but completely paralyzed. I tried using a bit of wire to press the reset button inside the player, but felt nothing. I could feel the tip of the wire pressing up against the opposite side of the player’s plastic case, no reset button to be found. Recharging it did nothing, seeing as the computer refuses to acknowledge its existence, so I couldn’t even try reformatting it. Now the battery is dead, won’t recharge, the computer doesn’t recognize the hardware, and I’m out $25.00. Even something that cheap should work for more than a month. Am I wrong here? I really wish I had read customer reviews before buying this thing; I could not believe how many people were experiencing the same or similar issues. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

Coby CS-MP16 MP3 Portable Mini Stereo Speaker System

Coby CS-MP16 MP3 Portable Mini Stereo Speaker System Lightweight and Compact Space-Saving Design / 3.5mm Stereo Plug / Compatible with iPod / No External Power Adapter Necessary
subpar sound quality, but very portable
The sound’s really disappointing, and you need to have your music player on full blast to hear your music at a decent volume, but it really is small and portable, as advertised.

Coby MPC-654 MP3 Player with 512 MB Flash Memory & FM Radio and Color Display

Coby MPC-654 MP3 Player with 512 MB Flash Memory & FM Radio and Color Display MP3 PLAYERS WITH FLASH MEMORY 512M FM COLOR SD SLOT
: Not bad for this product.
I bought this MP3 player back in early August, and got a 2Gig SD card for the add on as well. So far, it has not gone defect on me yet.

A few bottom lines are, you can’t view text or pictures at the same time when the music is playing, you cannot change the color of mp3 player skin(always blue) unless someone comes up with some magic hack to change the GUI all together, also the FM tuner has a bit of a weak reception compared to what Sony Mp3 players have as well but not too weak.

Overall, it’s a descent mp3 player if you are on a tight budget or want something cheaper than an iPod.

MP3 player cuts out fairly often
I’m returning this item. If the mp3 player gets bumped slightly, it shuts off… this is fairly bad news if you plan to jog with it.

Shoddy hardware
I purchased this item since its form factor was similar to my iPod shuffle and I wanted to a device that would use wma files - which this did. So far so good.

I added files using Windows Media Player and that worked well enough.

But when it came time to run with this unit, I was bitterly disappointed. The clip was not strong enoug to secure the player to the waist band on my shorts so I was forced to clip it to the collar of my shirt. It stayed there pretty well. But once I started to sweat and the MP3 player got a little wet, it died completely.

I liked the idea of a player that would work with Windows Media Player. And as far as that goes, this device worked just fine. But for someone who wants to wear this while exercising - not the best way to go.

Coby DP562 5.6-Inch Digital Photo Frame with MP3 Player

Coby DP562 5.6-Inch Digital Photo Frame with MP3 Player Those old photo frames atop your dresser, desk, nightstand and on your walls are vignettes of memories captured in the era of film cameras. The digital-camera makes available a technology where photos don’t have to be displayed as prints. A frame can display dozens (if not hundreds) of images off a digital-memory card.
Here’s a dandy way to display all those digital photos you’re accumulating. Display one or all (in slideshow mode) directly from an SD, MMC, xD, or CompactFlash memory card. It’s a great way to view your favorites on a table or on a wall - just like a regular picture frame. Yet COBY DP562 adds a unique feature. It has built-in speakers so you can play MP3 and WMA music files from your memory cards. You can even create photo slideshows with music. The DP562 has a USB port that lets you play photos stored on digital media drives. Its LED backlit screen delivers bright images for viewing in almost any situation.
This is a perfect frame to give to your parents and grandparents. Let them see pictures of you all the time from a memory card you provide them. Plays Most MP4 and AVI Video Files from Digital Cameras Photo Slideshow with or without Music AV Output for play through with Home Theater Systems SD - MMC - xD - CF Card Slots Full-Size USB Port for use with Flash Memory Drives USB Port for Fast File Transfers Integrated Stereo Speakers Interchangeable Faceplate (Black or White) to match your decor Detachable Stand Table use or Wall Mountable Unit Dimensions - 8.19 x 7.01 x 2.24 (WHD)
2000 photos max
Its best to resize your photos before loading them onto the card (max screen resolution of the Coby DP-882 is 800×600). According to other reviews, they look better when resized before loading rather than letting the unit do it. This also lets you load more photos onto the card. But, although you can load thousands of photos onto a 1 Gb card, the unit only displays the first 2000 photos that it finds. This does not seem to be documented anywhere.[[ASIN:B000MFG43A Coby DP-882 8-Inch Digital Photo Frame with Built-In MP3 Player]

Coby DP-812 8.5-Inch Widescreen Digital Photo Frame with MP3 Player 8.5″ (16:9) Digital Photo Frame with MP3 Player (Arcylic Frames - BLK, WHT)
Customer Review: Bad resolution for the screen size
For an 8.5-inch screen I would’ve preffered a photo frame that had more pixels per square inch.

It cannot play downlodable xvid or divx movies properly as I am guessing it doesnt have the computational grunt to process them.
