Coby MP-C854 MP3 Player with 512 MB Flash Memory & USB Drive
June 30, 2008 on 3:05 am | In Coby MP3 | No CommentsCoby MP-C854 MP3 Player with 512 MB Flash Memory & USB Drive Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand but loaded with features, the Coby MP-C854 MP3 player lets you listen to your favorite tunes on the bus, at the park, and just about anywhere else. The device measures a mere 3.6 by 1.1 by 0.8 inches (W x H x D), with a removable end cap that reveals a direct USB plug for connecting to a computer (no cable required). More significantly, the MP-C854 offers 512 MB of integrated flash memory, so you can store roughly 8 hours of MP3 music or 16 hours of WMA music–more than enough for a marathon training run or a cross-country flight. And for those occasions when you need to transport data rather than music, the MP- C854 can handle that, too, with the ability to store JPEG photos, text documents, and more. The mobile storage function is ideal for transporting business documents across the country or serving as an overflow backup for your digital camera’s memory card.
It’s easy to navigate through the audio player’s contents thanks to the three-line, multifunction LCD display, which displays the song title and artist information. And as with the best MP3 players, the MP-C854 offers a number of handy extras, such as an integrated microphone for digital voice recording, ID3 and LRC support for song and synchronized lyric information display, support for Windows Media DRM-10 online subscription services, and a high-speed USB 2.0 interface (up to 40x faster than USB 1.0). The MP-C854, which runs on a single AAA battery (included), works with Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, and XP and Mac OS X operating systems and carries a 90-day warranty.
What’s in the Box
MP-C854 MP3 player, professional stereo earphones, USB extension cable, installation CD, AAA battery, user’s manual.
Customer Review: Product with problems
I bought this product because it is inexpensive and compatible with the New York Public Library’s audio books. The first Colby I bought would often freeze randomly (I would have to remove the AAA battery to restart it) and the player would occasionally make a loud electronic squeal and fast-forward. The company replaced it quickly. The second one I received has the same problems, though they occur less often.
To be fair, I don’t know much about technology; it’s possible the problem is with the audio books themselves. However, I suspect this product has a lot of problems, because it came with a yellow flier in the box saying, “STOP. Need help? Call us! […] CALL US BEFORE YOU CONSIDER RETURNING THE PRODUCT!”

Customer Review: 4 Stars for what you’d expect
The MPC7097 is an extraordinary mp3 player for the price. I am sure that I could have gotten something much better for a lot more money but to tell you the truth, I am rather impressed, more so than disappointed.
Pros: The price is unbelievable. There is absolutely everything that I would want in an MP3 player stuffed into this thing. They did a nice job of making the default ear buds also be the neck strap. Video isn’t bad (screen is small but hey, it is video!) and it does come with very easy to use video formating that converts anything that I have put into it thus far. It supports pictures, ebook files, various sound files, has radio and various ways to record different things, and can ultimately be used just as a USB drive. THE MEMORY IS FLASH NOT HARD DRIVE!!!
Cons: Well it is cheap so you can’t expect everything to be perfect. I didn’t like the way the software lined up. It felt really choppy and minute-made. The internal speakers, although a nice touch, are hard to hear. The buttons seem hard to press or at least press so that the player knows you are pressing the buttons. The plastic flap that covered the USB hole fell right off as soon as I opened the box. The player is much smaller than it really seems (this might be a pro for some of you, but I like bigger players). The sound (maybe it is just the ear buds) is all in the treble. There is virtually no bass at all. I have to press a button 3 times before it responds when it shuts off the screen after 2 minutes to conserve battery life. I also found it difficult to understand how to use a lot of what was given to me on the player.
All of the cons to me aren’t all that bad for the player. But there they are. Video MP3 players and iPods all seem way to expensive ESPECIALLY when compared to this baby. I think I made the right choice.

The Coby 5.6″ Digital Photo Frame arrived very quick and in great shape. It is easy to operate and looks very nice. We did not load the MP3 as we were not wanting this function and had read disappointing reports. The slide show looks very nice and made a great present. Wish there was a larger screen with the same design.

Customer Review: Good on price short on features
This is a nice little mp3 player, it has decent memory and good sound. However it does not allow fast forward or rewind or tell you what track you are on. For the price not to bad though.

Waste of money for me unfortunately
I just bought a COBY MP3 Player a few days ago. I had music on it, it played well and 3 days later it stopped working. The Battery was on right, I never dropped it and It was very well taken care of. Now all it does is flash. I tried to plug it into the USB to see if it would start to no avail. I am starting to think COBY is selling refurbished products on low priced ones. I don’t think I’ll waste my time buying another COBY Digital Audio Player MP3

This is a great affordable DVD/CD player. I am particular fond of its ability to be hooked to a big screen TV or monitor to view movies. In comparison with other players I had in the past, I think this gadget is much faster in terms of reading the disks right away. You don’t have to wait and wonder if something is wrong with the media. Also, the price is really affordable when you consider all the attachments it includes: car power adapter, video audio cables for big screen hook up, electrical transformer, speakers, and recliner. This is definitely a five-star product.

Customer Review: Love/Hate…Mostly Hate
When I first bought this little player, it had a lot going for it. I didn’t have to worry about installing software or trying to install something on an outdated operating system (I’m still running on Windows ME, because I hate myself). Not only did it come with a headphone adapter (to go from a 2.5 to 3.5 size set of headphones) and was suspiciously cheap (a 1GB player for $25.00), all I had to do was plug it in, let it charge, and drag and drop music files, as this was pretty much a glorified flash drive. Honestly, I just needed something basic, so I wasn’t worried about display screens, FM tuners, recording features, or the ability to move forward or backward through individual tracks, all of which are nice to have, but not strictly necessary. I just wanted something to play music on the go. It was perfect for me. It was great.
Until I realised how badly it was designed.
Within ten minutes of opening it, I lost the headphone adapter, and apparently, after going to four different stores, not only did no one sell headphone adapters, not a single salesperson knew what I was talking about. That was a big surprise, and when I realised I had lost the adapter, I sincerely did not think it would be such an issue. Annoyed, I told myself I’d just get around to ordering one online. Until then, I’d just suck it up and use the annoying earbuds that came with the player.
And then, within the first two days of use, the buttons got jammed against each other, rendering me unable to use the forward button. After the headphone adapter debacle, the last thing I wanted to deal with was going back to the store and dealing with incompetent salespeople, so I just plied it off and used my thumbnail to press directly on the little metal nub on the circuitboard. And then the rewind button jammed. I just plucked that one off too. Eventually, I just ripped all three buttons off, leaving my player naked. Thankfully, it continued to work just fine. For about a month. When it just…stopped doing anything. It froze when I tried to fast forward to the next track and shut itself off. At first, I thought it was a power issue, but I was able to turn it right back on again. The exact same thing happened. I turned it on again, and it froze in the middle of the track, the power button on, but completely paralyzed. I tried using a bit of wire to press the reset button inside the player, but felt nothing. I could feel the tip of the wire pressing up against the opposite side of the player’s plastic case, no reset button to be found. Recharging it did nothing, seeing as the computer refuses to acknowledge its existence, so I couldn’t even try reformatting it. Now the battery is dead, won’t recharge, the computer doesn’t recognize the hardware, and I’m out $25.00. Even something that cheap should work for more than a month. Am I wrong here? I really wish I had read customer reviews before buying this thing; I could not believe how many people were experiencing the same or similar issues. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

Coby MPC-654 MP3 Player with 512 MB Flash Memory & FM Radio and Color Display
June 13, 2008 on 2:27 am | In Coby MP3 | No Comments Coby MPC-654 MP3 Player with 512 MB Flash Memory & FM Radio and Color Display MP3 PLAYERS WITH FLASH MEMORY 512M FM COLOR SD SLOT
: Not bad for this product.
I bought this MP3 player back in early August, and got a 2Gig SD card for the add on as well. So far, it has not gone defect on me yet.
A few bottom lines are, you can’t view text or pictures at the same time when the music is playing, you cannot change the color of mp3 player skin(always blue) unless someone comes up with some magic hack to change the GUI all together, also the FM tuner has a bit of a weak reception compared to what Sony Mp3 players have as well but not too weak.
Overall, it’s a descent mp3 player if you are on a tight budget or want something cheaper than an iPod.
