Customer Review: 2000 photos max
Its best to resize your photos before loading them onto the card (max screen resolution of the Coby DP-882 is 800×600). According to other reviews, they look better when resized before loading rather than letting the unit do it. This also lets you load more photos onto the card. But, although you can load thousands of photos onto a 1 Gb card, the unit only displays the first 2000 photos that it finds. Customer Review: Vendor as good as his word
As to the vendor, he was as good as his word. The item arrived in a timely manner and in good shape.

As to the product itself - only a couple things. In a techno-scape where everything is lithium battery operated, having an AAA bat operated mp3 player is a wonder. However, I’d feel better if it wasn’t made out of a plastic mold. It feels fragile to the touch and I’m not too certain that it would not survive one good accidental crunching. And the fact that I can’t see what song is playing, how much time, et al. I got kinda used to that with my old coby.

On the plus size of the matter though is that the buttons are easy to use for someone like me who has big fingers. It’s also easy to move from song to song (front or back) providing you know which arrow means which way in the list.

I’d choose this vendor again if I needed an electronic prodic. I’d choose this version of coby again oover what I had simply because of the ease in using the buttons. It’s hard to accidentally foul up on this version as opposed to my older colby mp3.

Customer Review: DO NOT BUY FOR VIDEO!!!!
I purchased this product to play videos in a store setting. I opened it up, the screen was very nice and the pictures were clear. The MP3 worked well with clear speakers and a nice volume. Then the video… I am a Digital Film major so I know all about compression, codex, etc. I could not get one single video to play on this machine. I tried every video type listed on the box with several different resolutions. I called tech support 3 times and they knew nothing other than.. “use the lowest resolution possible.” Which, if you know anything about video, doesn’t even make sense. I could render a video at 2 pixels by 2 pixels that you wouldn’t be able to see!

Finally, they said they would transfer me to “advanced” tech support and that I would be receiving a call shortly. I waited on writing this review for over 3 weeks after that call and I still haven’t heard back from Coby. I KNEW they were just blowing me off. I will NEVER purchase another Coby product. Don’t expect much support. On the plus side, I finally got a video to “play.” It showed only the first frame and took up about 1/4 of the screen. It then froze and locked up the frame until I shut it off. It now makes a lovely paper weight.

I bought this for my husband for our anniversary. He has been looking at these frames for months. I was worried at first that it would not be good because of the price, however it is a nice frame. The picture is clear and you are able to add a lot of pictures if you get something such as an SD disk. He likes that it plays musid too. Get a 2 GB memory card and your set with pictures, videos, and music. I would buy this item again.

Customer Review: Simply Stunning Image Quality
Having owned a couple of other brands of digital frames (Ceiva, Philips, and a particularly crummy one that I can’t remember the name of now), I can say that the photo quality on this frame is simply stunning (HD-like) in its clarity. I do real estate web design, so much of my time is spent editing photos on a 30-inch Apple Cinema display, so I am particularly critical when it comes to image quality. And I admittedly do run all my images through Photoshop, but I have to say that this frame blows away all the others I’ve seen over the years. Can’t comment on this frame’s durability, as I haven’t had it as long as some my others, but it appears to bear some craftsmanship…at least on the outside.

A couple of notes: one person mentioned the “blank images/placeholders/thumbnails.” This reflects the camera’s folder structure on the storage card. I’ve never had a digital camera that didn’t apply its own folder structure when the card is formatted and pics are subsequently written to the card. Thus, what is shown as a “blank image” is simply a folder that can’t be read by the frame, but that is necessary, nevertheless, for the camera’s functioning. There’s nothing wrong with the frame. The slideshow will still work fine this way–and will not “show” the blank images– but the slideshow photos will not loop.

How to fix the slideshow so it loops? Simply copy the pics to the _root directory_ of another storage card or flash drive (don’t delete the folder structure on your camera’s storage card, of course, as you’ll need it for your camera). Now, on your supplemental card, you will be rid of the “blank images,” and the slideshow will loop, as the target card is devoid of the camera-required folder structure.

Last, the slideshow transition duration can be set for a number of different user-defined intervals. Those intervals, however, are also affected by the size and optimization of the image files on the card. For example, if you have 10 100 kb files and set the duration to 5 seconds, the slideshow will play exactly as defined. If, however, you sandwich several 6 MB files in the middle of the 100 kb slideshow, your duration in going from a 100 kb file to a 6 MB pic in the sequence will take _more_ than 5 seconds…even if you have the duration set to 5 seconds. The frame is having to resample, and what would take 5 seconds going from pic 1 to 2 might now take 8 seconds, but the extra time is not glaring…or even particularly noticeable. This is no big deal at all for me, as the pics are so lifelike I hate to see one fade at all, but I thought I would mention it…just in case you plan to add some hefty 10 mb images and expect them to cycle every 5 seconds.

This item is perfect. I needed something small and inexpensive that I could leave at work and this is just the right price. The sound seems to be pretty good but being at work in a cubicle I have to keep the volumne down so others don’t hear it. I love it because it charges my iPod I don’t have to worry about the battery running low or the little portable speakers that I was using which I had to constantly put in new batteries.
